Quarry Managers required at two locations:

  • Rarewa, Whangarei
  • Pokapu, Bay of Islands

The Avoca Group has an 80-year history as a proud family operated business, and has earned a highly respected reputation for technical expertise in the field of lime and customised fertiliser
blends and applications. The organisation employs a team of 30, and the journey continues.

We are now seeking 2 Quarry Managers to coordinate and supervise all the day-to-day operations on their respective quarry sites.

This key position will report directly to the GM and core accountabilities will include production planning and delivery performance, machinery and yard maintenance planning, effective HS&E
practices on site, and ongoing training and development for a small team of quarry staff.

Ideally you will be able to tick the following boxes:

  • At least 3 years proven experience in a supervisory or management role – preferably within the extractives sector (mining, quarrying) or related industry.
  • A or B Grade Quarry Certification (or partially completed)
  • A practical understanding of the drivers of productivity and efficiency – with a proven ability to plan, organise, and problem-solve amidst constantly changing situations on a daily basis.
  • A good communicator at all levels
  • Computer literate (word, excel)
  • Highly customer focused (both internal and external) with some exposure to Quality Management Systems.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop your management skills.
  • A willingness for a ‘hands-on’ role in a family business (noting this is NOT a ‘sit all day in an office’ corporate environment)
