It is with sadness we announce the passing of Colin William WELSH on 13 June 2021, aged 75 years.
Colin worked for Industrial Gases and Auckland Copper Refining prior to starting with Keith Niederer. He worked for Keith for 16 years. Colin worked with the Niederer Machinery in Wiri and was a whizz with welding, and machining
After Keith Niederer’s company went into liquidation 1988, he started his own business in South Auckland and crafted some very innovative quarry machinery solutions – an intensely practical application to most problems. He sold out to MIMICO about 2011 but stayed around for another few years doing a bit of part time work helping out in busy periods.
Colin was a staunch Rugby League man and he played the game himself to a senior level and all of his sons also played the game to high levels. His grandson is currently playing senior football as well. Colin was an ex-President of the Manurewa Marlins League Club and right up to the time of his passing he was heavily involved in the club and with the Marlins Old Boys Club. He will be much missed around the Marlins Clubrooms.
Colin has attended IOQ Auckland Branch meetings for over 30 years as well as Annual Conferences with his wife Marion (who passed away approx 5 years ago). Colin had a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family.
