Certificate of Competence (CoC) holders in the extractives industry are required to renew their CoC by 1 January 2017.

The New Zealand Mining Board of Examiners has advised applications should be submitted by Friday 11 November 2016 so they can be processed and approved by the Board of Examiners (the Board) by Friday 23 December 2016 (the Board Secretariat’s last working day before the 1 January 2017 deadline).

Applications not submitted by Friday 11 November 2016 will automatically lead to the loss of the CoC and a requirement to apply as a new applicant.

The Extractives’ industry was provided a twelve month extension in 2015 to meet competency requirements set out by WorkSafe New Zealand and renew their current certificates of competence by 1 January 2017.
