Max Whiley passed away Sat June 9, 2007. Max was the founder, 42 years ago, of Titan Plant Services, which is the New Zealand agent for Volvo Trucks and Construction Machinery. The organisation also incorporates Tiitan Cranes.

Mr Whiley, who was 77, founded the Power Crane Association (now the Crane Association of New Zealand) in 1975 was its first President. He represented the construction industry for many years on Transit New Zealand’s Axle Weights and Loadings Committee.

He also served on the Board of the Contrafed Publishing Co (Publisher of Contractor and Quarrying & Mining) for nearly a quarter of a century, and was the Board’s Chairman for more than half that time. He was awarded life Membership of the Power Crane Association in 1992 and life Membership of the Contractors’ Federation in 1994.

Max’s funeral will be held at 11.00 am on Friday the 15th of June at St James’s Anglican Church, Woburn Road, Lower Hutt. This will be followed by an internment at the Akatarawa Cemetery for Family and and Close Personal Friends of the Family.

There will be a Function at Titan’s Lower Hutt premises after the Church Service. Our condolences go out to all his family, friends and workmates.
