The IOQ Northland Branch Meeting meeting was held at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort on Feb 23rd 2005, 12 people attended a great evening.
Doug the Digger aka Alistair Macintyre, talked on life before the accident and what inspired him to produce a children?s book on diggers with this cartoon character as a operator. He has now produced over 5000 thousand of these books which can be found all over the world. He has his own website.
Doug has been offered sponsorship to go around both the North and South Islands talking to schools on how to get employed and things you need to do and have for the industry. He also explains that there was this gap where the student leaving school could not get into the industry – as everybody wants a skilled person.
