This is a unique opportunity to work in the only Quarry remaining within the greater Auckland region, where the site encapsulates significant quarrying, production, screening and additional operations. The business is richly steeped in safety and quality, enjoying solid relationships in the aggregate industry and proudly supported by a small values-based operations team. The business waves goodbye to their current Quarry Manager, retiring after 20 years of stellar service.
Reporting to but working very collaboratively with the General Manager, this role is site, production and operations centric with the primary focus to ensure the operations run safely, effectively and efficiently to provide various aggregate materials to meet customer demands, via gate sales!
As the Quarry Manager, you will take full responsibly for the quarrying and additional daily site operations which are varied and include managing all aspects of production, site staff supervision and management, plant operations, maintenance and quality control, assurance and optimisation and interaction with customers and community stakeholders.
To be a successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate in considerable career experience within the aggregate industry, having managed operations and contributed to long-term planning within a large hard rock quarry. This will include operational and technical troubleshooting, management of subcontracting staff providing services for extraction through to restoration, crushing and screening processing plant technical and mechanical operations, quarry resource optimisation, research and investigation of raw material location. You will be responsible for the heavy plant and equipment maintenance and planning; therefore, a strong mechanical and electrical propensity is essential. You will also have strong experience in production and stock/inventory planning and management to maintain stock levels to meet fluctuating supply and demands of aggregate materials.
Along with your Health and Safety and Environmental experience which demonstrates your ability to deliver a Zero Harm environment; is your ability to drive a continuous improvement culture, therefore knowledge of current HSE legislation is essential.
You will possess strong yet practical leadership skills to manage and direct the activities of skilled trades persons and take a proactive, hands on approach to manage the daily challenges whilst making robust decision in a very timely manner.
With strong yet down to earth interpersonal and communication skills, you be able to lead by example, to quickly adapt to the changing daily needs of the operations and be available to work the operational hours. Of course, a valid Certificate of Competency as an A Grade Quarry Manager is mandatory. However, this is an industry opening for a B Grade CoC holder looking to upgrade within the next 12 months.
