MBIE advise that the
* 12 noon – 1.30 pm session will focus on the contents of Vol 1 of the discussion document
* 2 – 4 pm session will focus on Vol 2, the technical aspects.
MBIE also advise that the Health & Safety (Pike River Implementation) Bill is scheduled to be introduced into Parliament before the end of June (this month). Select Committee hearings will probably be held in July and August with the Bill being passed by end of October.
The Bill is likely to have three parts, matters around the establishment of the new H&S regulator WorkSafe New Zealand; a number of amendments to the Health & Safety in Employment Act; and changes to the Mines Rescue Trust.
